What was your first job:

My first job ever was as a newspaper delivery girl. I started when I was in elementary school until I was old enough to get a job as a sales assistant in a clothing store.

In addition to being paid, how else has your career created value in your life?

I enjoy learning new things while on the job. The jobs I’ve had so far have given me an opportunity to travel too so I’ve been very lucky to be able to work in a few different fields across a few different countries.

What would your ideal job be?

I enjoy working in a team environment at work and feeling as though I can make a difference. I like to be very hands-on and involved. I don’t particularly mind what industry, as long as it’s a young, start-up type of company.

If you could have one super-human power what would it be?

Teleportation so that I could visit my family and friends all over the world. Especially now that international travel is difficult.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Food! I’m always hungry and down to grab a snack or a bit to eat.

What would be your biggest piece of advice to your 20-year-old self?

No amount of planning does any good! Life is unplannable.

What do you love most about working in Customer Service?

I love working with people. It means that no two days are the same and I’ll be facing different challenges every day, every conversation.

What does Customer-Centricity mean to you?

I’ve nearly always worked in something customer-related. I was taught that customers are always right, even when they are wrong. Even if you weren’t able to achieve the outcome they wanted, it’s important to make them feel like you’ve tried your very best.

Do you feel that the current structure of hiring really allows you to showcase your skills?

I feel like there’s a lot more I can add in terms of experiences, stories that don’t necessarily come through in my resume. I’m not a fan of the traditional system of applying for jobs as I feel like I am much better in person!

How has Weploy helped change your situation?

Yes. As a working holidaymaker, it can be hard for companies to take us seriously. Most of the time, we won’t even be considered. Weploy opened doors for me. After 11 amazing months on the platform, I’ve worked with two companies for extended periods and I’ve only been unemployed for a short time during the early stages of Covid-19.

Do you feel that opportunities through Weploy changed your perspective on employment?

I’d never considered temp work but I really enjoy the flexibility of it all. I guess in that sense, it did change my perspective on employment. I’m used to applying for jobs individually, so to be able to go through the process once and landing several jobs without going through the whole process again makes life so much easier!

What was the process like for you?

The whole process was easy and surprisingly quick. I enjoyed the assessment (not so much the math part!) and how quickly jobs started popping up on the app.

What was the biggest surprise using Weploy?

I wasn’t expecting to land jobs with such big national and international companies. It has been a great year being a part of the Weploy family.

Has Weploy helped your work-life balance?

My work-life balance has always been very important to me so not much has changed in that aspect. However, both the companies I’ve worked for since joining Weploy have me set up to work from home during Covid-19 which is great! One company even provided me with a proper monitor and ergonomic items for my home office.
