Meet our Weployee of the Week - Stevie Rae Brown

Written by Sara | Oct 13, 2020 12:08:03 AM

After accepting her first role as a Weployee with Amy Gillett Foundation, the team couldn't bear to let her go and have now employed her as a full time member of their team! We still couldn't pass up the opportunity to feature her as our Weployee of the Week because the work of AGF is so important for cyclist safety in Australia and as part of the team there, we still get to work with Stevie often. We got to know this superstar Weployee a little better in our WOTW interview.

What was your first job:

A Subway girl or 'Sandwich Artist' as they called us!

What was your best job:

As a Facilities Coordinator in London for Deliveroo

In addition to being paid, how else has your career created value in your life?

My career development has shaped me into the person I am today by helping to bring out some values and skills I didn’t even know I had! Especially in my current role - it gives me a feeling of purpose every day.

What would your ideal job be?

A place where I'm excited to wake up and jump out of bed each day to work with my team.

If you could have one super-human power what would it be?

To be at multiple places at once!

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Just say the word dessert and I'll be there.

What is a typical day like for you?

No two days are really the same for me, but there are lots of daily tasks to be done like responding to emails, scheduling meetings, and solving problems. I’ll probably be listening to some music and wasting some time on TikTok. And Netflix is pretty much definite!

What would be your biggest piece of advice to your 20-year-old self?

Don't sweat the small things and live every day as if it were your last because you only get one shot.

Can you tell me a little bit about the challenges you’ve faced trying to find employment?

Trying to find the right fit at an organisation, both in terms of the work and the work culture.

Did Weploy change your situation significantly? If so can you tell me two ways it has helped further your career path?

Absolutely. I was looking for employment at the beginning of a pandemic when employment levels were peaking. Weploy matched me with a job that has opened many doors in my career. I have been exposed to a completely different organisation that has taught me many new things and strengthened my skills.

What made you try Weploy?

I was lucky enough to know someone at Weploy who said nothing but great things so it got me intrigued.

What was the process like for you?

Easy, simple and fast. I was kept well informed at every stage, so I felt comfortable and supported every step of the way.
